Offer letter came back with a different title than the one we'd been saying out loud for six weeks
Every conversation from the first screen onward used Senior. The written offer had the level below it.
Recruiter called it "internal levelling nomenclature" and pointed out the comp was exactly what we agreed. And it was — the money is right.
But the title is what travels to the next search, and nobody outside the company knows their nomenclature. I asked for a written commitment to a levelling review at six months. They agreed to "discuss it at six months," which is not the same sentence.
I signed. Two weeks in and it's fine, I like the team. Still think I should have held one more round on that.

AnonymousAnon Taking it was right, but "we'll discuss it at six months" is a no with a calendar attached. Put your own reminder at month five and walk in with their written levelling criteria and three examples against it. The mistake is waiting for them to bring it up, because they won't.
