Started learning to code at 34 after ten years teaching high school math, this week I got my first take-home
#career-switch#first-job#imposter-syndrome
Left teaching in January, did a bootcamp through the summer, applied to maybe sixty postings since. Most went nowhere, a few phone screens, and this week an actual take-home assignment showed up in my inbox. Spent the first hour just staring at it convinced I'd forgotten everything. Then I noticed the problem was basically the same shape as breaking down a word problem for a classroom — figure out what's actually being asked before you touch anything. Submitted it this morning. No idea if it's good enough, but for the first time since I left teaching I felt like the ten years weren't wasted, just pointed somewhere else.
