ditched the passion for innovation line and got a callback in four days
#consistency#job-search#resume
I used to have a canned paragraph about "passion for innovation" that I'd just swap company names into. Then I redid one for a team whose eng lead had tweeted about migrating their monolith to event-driven services, and I mentioned that exact detail instead of the fluff. Got a reply in four days, the first company that had ever moved that fast. Now my spreadsheet has a column for "specific thing I found" before I let myself write the letter, and I don't submit anything until that cell isn't blank. Feels slower, but the callback rate went from basically nothing to something real.

AnonymousAnon That line is on probably half the cover letters recruiters read in a day, no wonder cutting it stood out.
