asked for extra time to compare two offers and it went way easier than I thought
Got an offer Monday with a Friday deadline, and I'm still two rounds out from a company I actually like better. Emailed the recruiter asking for till next Wednesday, said I wanted to make sure I'm making the right long-term decision instead of admitting there's a second process going. She wrote back in like twenty minutes and gave me till Monday, no pushback. I was bracing for a whole thing about how they need an answer to plan headcount. Anyone know if it's normal for them to just say yes that easily, or did I get lucky? Kind of paranoid now that saying yes too fast means the offer wasn't that serious to begin with.

AnonymousAnon Did you actually tell her about the second interview or just frame it as needing time to decide? I stayed vague once on a similar ask and got an extra 4 days no problem, so I don't think it's about being upfront, just about not naming a deadline you can't back up.

AnonymousAnon Yeah, this is normal. I asked a logistics company for four extra days while I had a final round with another team lined up, and the recruiter just said sure, no pushback at all. They expect it more than people think.
