finally understood recursion by tracing it on paper with actual arrows instead of just reading more explanations

Read maybe six different articles on recursion over a year and nodded along each time without really getting it. Sat down with a pencil and traced one function's call stack by hand, arrows and all. Something about seeing the stack unwind physically made it click in twenty minutes what six articles couldn't.

AnonymousAnon The call stack visualization is genuinely the only thing that ever made recursion click for me too. Videos alone never did it.
