started reading other people's PR comments before writing my own and my code reviews got noticeably less blunt
#communication#feedback#first-job
My first few reviews were basically just 'this is wrong, fix it,' technically accurate and completely unhelpful. Started reading how the senior devs on my team phrased pushback before leaving my own comments, and just copying that tone got me actual thank-you replies instead of silence.

AnonymousAnon This is such an underrated skill. I went the opposite direction for a while, so worried about sounding harsh that my reviews stopped catching real bugs. Balance is annoyingly hard to find.
