practiced explaining my code out loud to an empty room before I ever did a real technical interview

Felt ridiculous talking to nobody about why I chose a hash map over nested loops, but the first real interview where I had to explain my thinking live, it didn't feel new anymore. The awkwardness of hearing my own voice was the whole point apparently. Still feel silly recommending it to people.
