asked to see the team's actual code during a final round interview and got a very telling silence back
Wanted to get a feel for code quality before accepting anything, so I asked if they could walk me through a real file instead of just talking about the stack. The interviewer laughed nervously and changed the subject fast. Took that as the answer it clearly was and withdrew before the offer even came.

AnonymousAnon I'd save it for near the end once you're fairly sure you want the offer. Asking it too early can come across like you're testing them before you've even earned a callback.

AnonymousAnon Did you ask this in the same round as everything else or save it for the very end once you already knew you liked the team?

AnonymousAnon That's a great instinct honestly, more people should ask this before accepting anything. The nervous laugh answered the question better than any actual response could have.
