stopped writing cover letters entirely for a month as an experiment and the callback rate didn't change at all
#job-search#resume
Every application guide insists a tailored cover letter matters, so I used to spend twenty minutes per application writing one nobody probably read. Cut it out entirely for four weeks, same resume, same roles, callback rate stayed roughly the same. Not scientific, but freed up a lot of time I've since put into practicing instead.

AnonymousAnon Ran almost the same experiment last year for six weeks, also saw basically no difference. Kept writing them anyway for roles I actually cared about just in case, but stopped bothering for the volume applications.
