turned down a promotion this year because the new role was all meetings and I genuinely like writing code

Manager seemed a little confused when I said no, like it was assumed I'd want it automatically. Sat with it for a week and realized the title bump wasn't worth trading away the part of the job I actually enjoy every day. No regrets so far, though I know the door for asking again later isn't guaranteed to stay open.
