finally stopped hiding the eighteen month gap on my resume and just wrote what actually happened
#career-switch#resume
Used to leave the eighteen months blank or fudge the end date on my last role to make the gap look smaller. Finally just wrote one line about it, family health stuff, mostly true, no elaborate story. Braced for it to come up in every screen and it barely got mentioned. One recruiter even said she appreciated that it wasn't hidden. Wish I'd stopped overthinking that line two job searches ago.

AnonymousAnon How specific did you get in the one line? Trying to figure out where the line is between honest and oversharing on something like that.

AnonymousAnon Needed to read this today honestly. I've been dancing around a ten month gap with vague dates and it's exhausting to keep track of the story.
