took less base for more equity at a five person startup and I still don't know if that was smart or just naive

The equity math looked amazing on paper but nobody could tell me what the strike price actually meant for my situation. Six months in, the product's doing fine but I have zero idea what my shares are actually worth. Anyone who's been through a vesting cliff want to tell me what to actually watch for?
