is system design prep actually worth it for a junior role or is that just interview folklore at this point

Every prep guide I've found assumes you're going for mid or senior. Getting mixed signals on whether junior loops even touch it beyond a light version. Anyone actually had a junior interview go deep on this, or is it mostly a formality round?
