gave a technical answer in an interview that was correct but way too deep and watched the interviewer's face change

Interviewer asked something narrow and I gave the full textbook answer, edge cases and all. Watched their eyes glaze over about a minute in. Started trimming answers to the actual question and only going deeper if they asked a follow-up. Took way too long to learn that thorough and good aren't the same thing under time pressure.
