spent three weekends building a portfolio project nobody asked about and it never came up once in six interviews

Spent three weekends polishing a personal project I was sure would be a talking point. Six interviews later, nobody brought it up once, not even when I tried to steer toward it. Still not sure if it was the wrong project or if portfolio work just matters less than I assumed. Probably should've spent that time on more applications instead.
