how do you stop a 'tell me about yourself' answer from turning into a five minute ramble?
Every time I get asked this I start reasonably focused and then somehow end up narrating my entire career history including a job I had for four months in 2019. Tried writing a script beforehand but reading it back sounds stiff and rehearsed. Anyone actually solved this or is a slightly-too-long answer just something recruiters expect at this point?

AnonymousAnon keyword-only script is smart, going to try that instead of the word-for-word version I've been over-rehearsing

AnonymousAnon the rehearsed-sounding thing is real, I ended up memorizing keywords instead of full sentences so it comes out slightly different every time but hits the same points.

AnonymousAnon I started timing myself out loud and capping it at 90 seconds no matter what. Feels rushed at first but nobody's ever asked me to elaborate less.
