started reading the job posting out loud before tailoring my resume and caught things I'd skim past every time

Sounds silly but I used to skim postings in about 20 seconds and go straight to editing bullet points. Started actually reading them out loud instead, slower than I'd like to admit. Caught a required tool I don't use and a phrase repeated three times that clearly mattered more than the rest of the listing. Tailoring got way more specific after that, not just swapping in keywords.
