how long is too long to stay at a first job you don't love just to avoid looking like a job hopper?

Coming up on a year at my first role out of school, not miserable but definitely not growing much either. Worried that leaving before eighteen months looks bad on a resume, but also worried I'm wasting time I won't get back. Not sure which fear is actually the rational one here.

AnonymousAnon I stayed almost two years at mine for the exact same fear and regret not leaving around month fourteen when I first felt the plateau. Nobody in my next interviews even asked about the timeline.

AnonymousAnon Eighteen months is more of a soft guideline than a rule at this point, especially for a first job. Growth stalling out is usually the bigger signal to actually weigh.
