walked into a system design round assuming it'd be about a system I'd actually used and it was nothing close

Prepped hard on designs for things like a URL shortener and a chat app since that's what every guide covers. Got asked to design something for a niche industry problem I had zero context on. Had to lean entirely on the general framework instead of any memorized diagram, which honestly ended up being the more useful skill anyway.
