how early is too early to start seriously job hunting before a lease renewal forces the timeline

Lease is up in four months and I want to be in a new role before then ideally, but starting too early usually means the timing doesn't line up and I burn interview goodwill on roles that aren't ready to hire yet. Trying to figure out the actual sweet spot instead of just guessing.
