sat through my first real code review as a reviewer and realized I have no idea how blunt is too blunt

Left three comments on a PR, agonized over the wording on each one longer than it took to actually read the code. One teammate said my comments read overly formal, like I was writing to a stranger instead of someone on my team. Trying to find the actual line between clear and cold.
