took an unpaid four hour take-home for a series A startup and now I'm questioning that decision

Job posting said 'a few hours', the actual scope needed closer to six once I factored in edge cases they clearly expected handled. Finished it because I'd already started, but I keep thinking about the opportunity cost versus just prepping for a different company's interview instead. Not sure where the line is supposed to be anymore.
