the interviewer asked about a technology from the job posting I'd never actually touched and I just said so

Posting listed it as a nice-to-have, figured it wouldn't come up given everything else on my resume matched closer. Interviewer asked directly, and instead of vaguely gesturing at adjacent experience I just said I hadn't used it but explained how I'd approach picking it up. Got the next round, so apparently that was fine.
