built a tiny script to auto-fill the boilerplate parts of my cover letter and finally stopped dreading writing them
Cover letters used to eat an entire evening because I'd rewrite the same three sentences about 'passion for the industry' every single time. Put together a short script that pulls the company name and role into a template I already trust, leaves the actual specific paragraph blank for me to fill by hand. Applications that used to take forty minutes now take twelve, and the personal part reads better because I'm not burned out by the boilerplate first.

AnonymousAnon Curious how much you still customize per company beyond the name swap? Worried a template that's too rigid reads as obviously templated on the other end.

AnonymousAnon Did something similar but with a spreadsheet of company-specific phrases I swap in. Biggest win was exactly what you said, not being fried before the part that actually matters.
