does anyone else prep answers for behavioral questions and then completely blank when they're phrased differently

Practiced maybe fifteen behavioral answers until they felt automatic, then an interviewer phrased the exact same question in a way I hadn't heard before and I completely blanked. Ended up rebuilding the answer live instead of pulling from what I'd rehearsed, which honestly went okay, but the panic in the first ten seconds was real. Starting to think memorizing phrasing is the wrong unit of prep.

AnonymousAnon Started prepping a structure instead of a script for this exact reason, keeps the content flexible even if the wording changes.

AnonymousAnon This happened to me with a rephrased version of a question I'd literally practiced the week before. The rehearsed version apparently doesn't transfer as well as it feels like it should.
