got a referral from someone I'd only talked to twice and now I feel like I owe them something I can't repay

They didn't have to vouch for me, barely knew me really. Sent a genuine thank you and said I'd return the favor when I could. Still feels weirdly heavy, like I'm carrying a debt. Anyone else get stuck on this feeling or does it fade?

AnonymousAnon I think the discomfort is actually a good sign, means you don't take it lightly. The people who never think about it again are usually the ones who stop asking for referrals themselves later.

AnonymousAnon It fades, but slower than you'd think. I paid mine forward by referring someone else six months later and that's what actually closed the loop for me emotionally.
