bombed the technical screen but the recruiter called back anyway because the hiring manager liked how I handled not knowing the answer

I completely whiffed a question about a library I'd never used, said so plainly, and then talked through how I'd go about learning it if I had to. Didn't expect that to go anywhere but apparently it was enough to get a second look. Not sure I'd bet on that working twice but it happened.
