It's ugly, it's not something I'd ship, but it auto-logs status changes from my email and that alone saved more time than any template I downloaded. Mentioned it offhand in an interview and the interviewer asked more follow-ups about it than about my actual resume.

AnonymousAnon basically the same lesson as the take-home post from a while back about the readme explaining tradeoffs doing more work than the code itself. scrappy and explainable keeps beating polished and generic.

AnonymousAnon the fact that an interviewer asked more about the tool than your resume says a lot. a scrappy thing that solves your own real problem usually beats a polished thing that solves a hypothetical one.
