Cursor pagination trades random jumps for steadier pages
Anonymous
Offset pagination is easy to understand, but large offsets may require scanning past many rows, and inserts can shift page boundaries. A cursor based on a stable sort key supports forward traversal without recalculating a row offset; include a unique tie-breaker when the main sort key can repeat. Jumping directly to an arbitrary page is less natural.
